John Pregulman is a native of Chattanooga, TN, and attended Vanderbilt University, where he was a walk-on member of the basketball team. He graduated in 1980 with a BA in Business and Sociology. He is the President and Co-Founder of KAVOD (www.kavodensuringdignity.org), a Memphis-based nonprofit organization that provides emergency aid to Holocaust Survivors in need across the US. He founded it with his wife, Amy, in 2015. The Holocaust Legacy Photography Project, during which he has met and taken more than 1690 photos of Holocaust survivors across the world, led Amy and John to create KAVOD. As a former professional photographer in New York City in the 1980s, John found his passion for photographing survivors and has been doing so since 2012.

After his time in New York, he returned to Chattanooga to join the family steel business, Siskin Steel and Supply Company. The company was sold in 1996, and John was named President/COO until leaving the company in 2005. He is currently the managing partner of Robmer Partners, a real estate company, and serves his family by heading the family office as the Chief Investment Officer.

Amy Israel Pregulman serves as Executive Director and Co-Founder of KAVOD. Amy oversees all aspects of KAVOD and spearheads The KAVOD SHEF Initiative. Since its inception, KAVOD has allocated more than $43 million in aid to Holocaust Survivors in the US and has fulfilled more than 165,000 aid requests. In 2026, Amy was honored with The National Leadership Award from The Network of Jewish Human Services Agencies.

Prior to KAVOD, Amy was the Director of Cultural Arts at the Memphis Jewish Community Center (MJCC), where she developed the Cultural Arts Department. Under her leadership, she developed and implemented the Jewish Literary and Cultural Arts Festival, the International Jewish Film Festival, the first Health and Wellness Expo, and established and branded the Patrons of the Arts Program.

In 2017, Amy completed her MA in Strategic Planning and Leadership with a certificate in Nonprofit Management at the University of Memphis. In 2024, she graduated with her MA in Depth Psychology, specializing in Jungian and Archetypal Studies, from Pacifica Graduate Institute. In 2026, she completed the Myers-Briggs (MBTI) certification to professionally guide individuals and teams through development plans, leadership coaching, and career exploration using validated MBTI tools.

Amy and John have 6 kids between them: Ally (Ben), Madeline (Max), Jonah, Elliot (Melissa), Daniel, and Ethan. They also have one grandchild: Mason James Velinsky.
